Re: Why no gathering wood in State Parks?

That certainly sounds logical and reasonable. Good enough for me. I think my favorite campfire experience was on the beach in Grand Isle Louisiana. Gathering was allowed and it was tough finding wood in the short thickets of the marsh. We came across a large piece of driftwood and all we ended up having to do was keep sliding the end forward into the fire. When we left, there was a large piece of driftwood sitting there for the next group.

This was far better than the Yahoos on the next beach with palettes stacked up 2 stories high, with old tires piled on top to add to the drama.

Store-bought wood sounds mighty fine to me. Texas is a beautiful state and I want to preserve it and enjoy it with the utmost respect.
