Re: Camping at Ren. Festival -- Plantersville

Have never camped there but know some who have. There's some partying that goes on no doubt but I would think you could find a place fairly quiet. It is much like primitive camping though. Bring your own water and battery operated fan (Nov can still be hot) and don't forget bug off stuff, just in case. I'm not sure if they allow groundfires. Lots of pinestraw around. As far as the festival itself goes, it has become more and more family oriented. I remember the first time I went (prob '85) there were people pulling passed out people around in wagons. They don't let you bring in ice chests anymore. Lots of games and "rides" for kids (at an extra cost usually @ $3). There are some areas that are basically a beer party in the woods but you'll know the area when you get close. All in all I would recommend Ren Fest for a good time for all. Make sure you take in as many shows as you can and fireworks at the close of the evening are awesome. If you can, go in costume. It really adds to the adventure!
