As far as Maples goes, if you haven't already booked, you are prob out of luck... unless you go into primitive camp mode. Garner may also be booked. Both of these usually require a year in advance reservation. At least that is what I've experienced. There is a private owned RV park directly across the Frio from Garner that we are checking out come Thanksgiving. Not exactly what we are used to but anything in the Hill Country will do me good right now. Its close enough to Lost maples that we can daytrip there for either a short or long hike. And, like I said Garner is just across the river. If you're interested in the RV park, let me know and I'll get you what info I have.
Our fav sites at Lost Maples are any between 13 and 17. 13,14,and 15 have trails down to the river. 16 is the most "alone" and 17 nestles into a hillside.
