I'm trying to snag a few moments and get some SAMPLE things set up for you guys and gals to look over and see if they suit your needs.

I took liberties with the name of the camping club -- I thought it might be best if it was somewhat unique otherwise all events on our standard Wild Texas Calendar might get confused as organized events from forum members here.

So, is there any pain over calling the club the Wild Texans Camping Club? Very easy to change, it's just no one else has chimed in yet.
  • CLUB DISCUSSION FORUM:
    SAMPLE DISCUSSION FORUM for the Camping Club; it's empty right now but would allow anyone to post messages, file attachments, images, links to related websites, etc. I presently have the forum listed under the "General Interest" section of our forums, but if you have suggestions on a better location (Under the existing "Camping" forum, for example, that's fine by me. I went with putting it in general for higher visibility.)

  • CLUB CALENDAR:
    SAMPLE CALENDAR for the Camping Club; it's empty right now of course, but anyone could post events; eg. Join Us @ Inks Lake for picnicking, fishing and camping the weekend of Aug. X to Aug Y. RSVP to ...whomever... It could have a slightly different look/template if desired.

    For comparison purposes, you can see what a populated calendar looks like by viewing our main Wild Texas Events & Holidays Calendar, which has all sorts of events loaded into it.

    Events in all of our calendars are set to be moderated right now. I am leery of leaving things open for public posting as we do have random folks who fly through and abuse certain posting privileges. If you guys had one or two people you'd be willing to act in your stead, I could make them moderators and they'd have the power to approve new events postings in the calendar, etc. ANYONE could post an event, it just wouldn't show up until I or a moderator had approved it for display on the site. For now, I am the only designated moderator. Any volunteers? I can write you up a tutorial... it's not too confusin'

  • CLUB PHOTO GALLERY:
    SAMPLE PHOTO SHARING SECTION for Wild Texans Camping Club; again, this is empty right now. Anyone can post to it but it needs a moderator in addition to myself, and I am open to suggestions on where it should be listed amid our pre-existing Wild Texas Photo galleries.
Bear in mind that all of these things are based on templates and I could, given some guidance from you guys, strip all the Wild Texas specific stuff off (for the most part, except for the URL and a few copyright things) and make these into sort of their own sub-site. That would take some coordination and guidance on your parts, but is absolutely doable. Just talk it over amongst yourselves and let me know.

In the meantime, everything I just linked should be accessible. If it isn't, let me know; I did it quickly and may have set some permissions too low to allow public posting/entries.

PS: Might want to do some searching to ensure no one else is going by the name "Wild Texans Camping Club" before anyone gets too attached to the name. Same for "Wild Texas Camping Club" for that matter, as it's not something I have trademarked (though I should have a long time ago.)
