I go to Colorado every year and I never go to RMNP (it's been 12 or 13 years anyway) because there is so much wilderness area closer that's less crowded and doesn't require permits etc. I'd recommend something in the Sangre de Cristo, Weminuche, or Collegiate Peaks Wilderness areas.
