Angry Re: Discuss: Calaveras Lake Park

I went to this park thinking it was like most Texas parks I had been to, clean, neat and beautiful. I was highly mistaken. First there is no swiming anywhere, not that I would want to swim in this water. You could not see the bottom anywhere even at the 3 inch level. Second there was posted signs for not littering, it was completely ignored by pretty much everyone. There is broken glass bottles all over the grassy areas. Trash is everywhere except in the trash bins. There was a cleaned and gutted fish laying in one of the so called shaded picinic areas. There is also a dead fish or two floating around in the water where my family and I stopped to check out this scenic area. What does the entry fee go to? Obviously it does not go to maintence of this park. I hope someone who reads this takes action to clean up what could be a very nice facility but until then I will not return to this so called park. It looks like spring break happened here and no one cleaned it up.
I also want to say that the gentleman who was in the booth when we got there really had no people skills. He was very lack luster in his approach to customer service. He did however express intrest into which website had told us that there was swimming there and said he would try to correct the problem. He should get a pat on the back for it.
All in all I would say what a disappointment this lake was for my whole family. I will continue to use Texas' great park system, just not this one. I highly suggest you do the same.
