Re: Discuss: McAllister Park
No ponds or streams for fishing. There are some dry creekbeds which flood horribly when it rains. The property is in a flood plain and in the flight path of the airport. There are several paved walking trails thru a canopy of oaks providing shade. At the trailhead there is a restroom facility. We see deer every time we go. The deer in there also can be seen near Bitters road where the property becomes airport property. The soccer fields are on that side of the park. This is a very nice place to walk your dog, jog, ride, or take some city kids exploring off the trail looking for deer. How lost can you get?
Along the front portion of the trail are picnic sites which are numbered. I've never seen them being used but I bet on Easter people camp out there like they do at Brackenridge. If I'm gonna camp out, I'm leaving town.
When you need a quick peice of the "outdoors", go to McAllister.
