Re: Inks Lake June 2006

Ya'll should have a blast. There are tons of waterfront sites. The HQ had a detailed list of "Ameneties" ( shade, rocky, water front etc) on a list. I took her suggestion on a site. I just asked for something somewhat secluded, but near the restroom. Turnkey has posted several nice sites in another post.

Planning side trips is a great idea, especially if you can get to visit family. There is plenty to do in the area. Bring your swimming clothes with you. you might want to swim somewhere like Blanco SP, or the pool at LBJ. The berry farm is called "Sweet Berry Farm", it is in Marble Falls. We saw a brochure about it somewhere. When we were there, the strawberries we at the end of season, and the blackberries just starting. There is also a small petting zoo in the shade with a few picnic tables. They have some really cute goats, a couple donkeys and 2 horses. The goats kept everyone entertained for quite a while.

If you don't camp in the water only area, take a drive over to walk around. It was less crowded and the wildlife seemed to enjoy the solitude. We watched the sunset from the fishing pier on that side of the park one night.

Remember about the restrooms, the nice ones, (newer ones) are in the water/electric area. If you're like us, you don't appreciate wildlife IN the restroom. Have a great time and we look forward to reading your report upon return.
