Welcome. Head to wal-mart. They have some great tent "packages". Take easy way out with the food, just don't cook, make it all cooler food. Try Mc Kinney falls, on the south side of Austin. I-35 exit William Cannon, the HEB is right on the corner. There is hiking and water for wading/swimming, and fishing. Great place for a first timer, real close to town, but far enough away to feel secluded. Have a great time.
