My wife and I just found out that we don't have to work this weekend and are wanting to get away. We would like to try out beach camping and getting sand in all those weird places :eek:. We have pretty much narrowed our destination down to two possibilities: Mustang Island State Park and Padre Island National Seashore.

Which is better for someone with a two-wheel drive pickup? From what I've read in this forum and on other sites, PINS seems to be the better of the two locations, but is this only for people with 4x4's who can get past the 5-mile marker? With this weekend being Memorial Day weekend, is beach camping going to be extrememly crowded in the 2WD accessible areas of either park?
