The Attwater's Prairie Chicken is
Texas' most endangered species. Prairie chickens need your help if they are to survive in captivity and retain their place on the prairie. Costs of captive breeding are high & have no secure funding source.
You can be a partner in the captive breeding effort by adopting a prairie chicken. All money raised goes to help underwrite the costs of raising chicks.
A tax-deductible gift of $25 will cover the cost of feeding insects to one Attwater's prairie chicken chick from the time of hatching until it is old enough to eat commercial food. In addition to helping save this species from extinction, you will receive:
- regular updates on what's happening at the captive breeding sites
- photo and description of the natural history of Attwater's prairie chickens
- a packet of educational activities to use or donate to a school
- the opportunity to attend special lectures and trips at the Attwater's prairie chicken National Wildlife Refuge and captive breeding facilities
