Re: Help Needed from you Experienced Campers!

If you really want to eliminate the driving consider Lake Livingston State Park. They have shelters with nice firerings and you can fish from just outside the cabins. Trails, playground and weekend park store (possible)..with paddleboats. Pool in the summer!
Also if you search there are private parks as well...Just be careful some get seedy.

Or you may check Brazos Bend with the observatory....Can't remember if they have shelters though

Like Shannon said, Bastrop has much more civilized accomodations....

Lake Sommerville State Park??

Galveston State Park can be fantastic this time of year (weather permitting) We have had some of our nicest trips in the winter. I believe they have shelters but they are on the batside....double check me on that one. But tent camping near the beach.....Bring firewood... and loads of it..plus watch where you set your tent if you burn...might end up with lots of holes?

That's the most I've typed in weeks so I have to take a break :asleep:
