Re: Balmorhea State Park?

I have stayed at Balmorhea State Park and thought it was a neat place to stay for one or two days. I went in mid October last year. I would have enjoyed Balmorhea more if I could have swam in the natural spring-fed pool, but we could not due to heavy rains in the weeks before we arrived. The pools visibility was only about two feet and they will not let anyone swim in the pool under those conditions.
The pool of course is the main attraction. The camping is nice though. You get a great view of the Davis Mountains and you can see all the stars at night. If you are looking for a great place to camp though, this is not it. The campsight is a loop with hardly any trees and a road is nearby with moderate traffic. I would stay one or two nights and then travel into the awsome Davis Mountains and stay at Davis mountains State Park. Davis Mountains State Park is fantastic.
The park is only 45 minutes from Balmorhea. If you visit the Davis Mountains State Park you have to visit the McDonald Observatory as well. The whole family can have a great time at the Observatory and the park.

Any additional information needed, please let me know.
