We almost went there last week but headed south instead. It looks like a very pretty park. I read in the Dallas paper on our last trip that the water temp there was around 82...Perfect swimming for me..

I would not worry about the gators. They are surely there but they tend to avoid humans unless they are very small and loud
We camped at Huntsville once and this guy was fishing out of a tube. A gator swam by him at about a 15' distance. We were freaking out thinking he was gonna be bait. Unfortunately the gator swam by and the video was not exciting enough to send to Real T.V.
This past week we saw a gator swim by our campsite (Martin Dies) every morning, He would lye still in a clump of weeds with just his eyes above the water. Never saw him get a thing but it was kind of cool nonetheless...
