Re: Discuss: Inks Lake State Park

Good question. I don't think the stargazing that's great, mostly because it's difficult to get out from all the tree cover, and when you are you have potential boat traffic as well as park and neighboring community lighting to compete with the night sky view. This is pure conjecture, however, since I've been to Inks Lake SP only during daylight hours, though I have stayed near the park in motels and done some of after dark driving to-and-fro. Regardless of location, for best night sky viewing make sure there's a new moon, meaning no moon in the sky. The moon reflects a lot of the sun's rays and makes a huge difference in night sky viewing.

Anyone else who's actually camped at Inks have any more details?

I was impressed with the night sky view in Del Rio. I know, VERY far afield but I just thought I'd throw that in since some of the threads recently have involved stargazing and such.
