hi, i'm hoping to go the may 21 weekend out first to big bend where i'm hoping to do some canoing down either through colorado canyon or mariscala canyon and was wondering if anyone had done something of the sort before. i'm hoping to camp along the river one or two nights and i've read that we need to rent or buy some type of portable toilets. does anyone know how that works at big bend or anywhere? also, some general tips about storing equipment and whatnot on canoes and at big bend would help also. it says that solis and talley (the pickup and dropoff) locations are kinda iffy in security of your cars, is that true?

also, after big bend i'm hoping to hit up padre island. we have a honda cr-v, not sure if that would be able to hit the four wheel drive areas but somewhere as far from humans as possible. i'm an avid photographer and i'm hoping to get some night shots too. i've never camped on the beach either, so was wondering if there was anything i might need. i've read some posts about padre island and needing reflectors and heavier objects to keep the tent down. i was just wondering if i might be able to find some objects on the island if i don't want to bring any.
