I was watching something on the History Channel the other night on the siege of the Alamo. They made the point that Crockett was addressed as David not Davy. I don't really know one way or the other. But I know, Shannon, that you were not even born when the Fess Parker as Davy Crockett series first aired on TV. Heck, I barely remember it. I'm trying to remember how many episodes there were. Let's see: "Davy Crockett Frontiersman; Davy Crockett Indian Fighter; Davy Crockett Congressman and Davy Crockett Defender of the Alamo. Did I miss any?
Another little tidbit that I didn't know was that the Mexicans used Brown Bess rifles which date before the American Revolution. The Texans used Kentucky rifles which had a range of about 300 yards.
