Great to hear the backpacking and camping trip was a success. Looks like everyone had a good time! Any wildlife encounters -- deer, birds, armadillos, etc? You're making a computer-bound hiker jealous, here!
I second (third?) the kudos to Brett on the photos, though I have to poke a tiny bit of fun since he posted them somewhere other than our free
Your Photos gallery*. I suspect Brett's as prolific a photographer as Justin and I are, however, and that he'd quickly hit the limit of the disk space I offer in our gallery!
* Someday I might offer inexpensive photo hosting with a higher disk space limit, but I haven't crossed that bridge yet. It's easier to manage everything here when it's all free/publicly available!
Anyway, keep sharing those planned and completed trips. It's great to see folks getting out and exploring. Maybe some of it will rub off on a certain geeky
WildTexas.com gal!
The good news is Justin and I
did get out a bit on Friday and day hike 3.6 miles on the multi-use trail at
Guadalupe River State Park near our home. Had a wonderful time, and got to wear my new backpacking/hiking boots for the first time on-trail. I'm in love -- they're so much more comfortable than the heavy, clunky boots I had for the past two or three years! Of course, I need more miles on them yet to really break them in, but no ill effects from Friday's hike...
