Hello all -
first post on the forum. hopefully I can contribute something to the forum.

I'm mapping out 2009 vacation and plan to deviate from the norm. We all have our "regular" spots and I'm no different, but I've heard so much about Garner I'm hoping to make the trip this year.

I live north of DFW. We are planning to hit several spots this trip, including South Llano and Garner State Parks.
I have 3 kids (10, 5, and 4) and I'm interested in the riverbed areas and the tubing type activities. I've been on the Guadalupe river around New Braunfels, and I would never consider taking my kids on something like that. I'm looking for a little stream for some fun and floating, not a bunch of rapids.

Can anyone enlighten me on the conditions at these parks? For those with kids (around the same age as mine) can you offer any insight?

Finally - one person in another post asked if tubes could be rented at either park and I believe the question went unanswered. Can anyone speak to this?
