MAY 2, 9, 13, 16, 24, 27, 30, 2009 — Inks Lake SP — Canoe Skills Clinic — This clinic will introduce first-time boaters to the skills needed to enjoy a leisurely afternoon canoe trip to the Devil's Waterhole or any future flat water canoe trip. Participants will learn to paddle, steer and stabilize the canoe. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Wear footwear that can get wet. Maximum of three people or 450 lbs. per canoe. 11 a.m.-noon; fees $4 Texas State Parks Pass members, $5 non-members, $4 senior citizens and children 12 and under; reservations required (512) 793-2223.
May 2, 9, 13, 16, 24, 27, 30, 2009 — Inks Lake SP — Devils Water Hole Canoe Tour — Take this guided canoe tour and see some of the many geological, natural and cultural features of the Hill Country best seen along the shoreline of the park. Canoes, paddles, life jackets and a brief skills overview provided. Participants are expected to have basic canoeing skills, or attend the Canoe Skills Clinic conducted just prior to the canoe tour. Clinic participants receive a discount on the tour. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult with a maximum of three people per canoe. 1-3 p.m.; fees $6 Texas State Parks Pass members, $7 non-members, $6 senior citizens and children 12 and under; reservations required
May 2, 16, 30, 2009 — Inks Lake SP — Stumpy Hollow Nature Hike — Enjoy a hike with a Certified Master Naturalist exploring the Natural World of spring wildflowers, native cactus, bird watching, edible plants, tree identification and wildlife common to the park. The one-to-two-mile guided tour is moderately strenuous. Open to all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring water and wear good walking shoes.
