Re: Wilderness Survival Camp

I have rescheduled Texas Survival camp to November 13-15, 2009. I've made it much easier for folks to attend. Maybe will get Shannon to fly down and join us at camp. I understand the weather can be a bit cool in November Houston way, just add another layer and a cup of hot pine needle tea and your all set. We just finished our winter Mini Camp in northern Cal, with temperatures in the low twenty's, wind and snow, and lots of sunshine mixed in. Fresh cougar tracks in the snow at camp and we found a fairly recent lion kill on the ridge above camp. It was a small deer, looked to be a yearling. The cougar used an old Bear bed to eat the deer and when we found it the kill was covered in pine needles with bits of hair and crushed bone. The bones we found we're licked clean of any fat or tissue, lions will do that and enjoy the marrow of the bones as well. Cougars are true Texans, they have to have their meat too.
