Okay so I have more questions.

Given the choice would you go to the Davis Mountains in July or September? And what are the temps like at both times?

Also would it be better to save the panhandle trip for September?

I am thinking that it may be nice to go to the Davis Mountains, Balmoreah and possibly Carlsbad in July and take the kiddos. Then just the hubby and me take off to Caprock and Palo Duro for a week in September to celebrate his 40th birthday together in peace, quiet and nature.

Or is it just as hot in September?
