The river crossing near Neal's is a good spot. Some deep areas but mostly shallow. One of Texas Highways' "best swimming holes in Texas" is near that spot. (just find the big leaning rock)

While you may have to "walk" the Frio instead of floating it, you will come across areas where the river is wade and deep. You just can't get to these spots any other way because of there being no public access.

Whether it's running low, high or normal, you will not find a prettier river in the whole of Texas.
