Thumbs up Cooper Lake SP in a cabin January 2009

Start at the beggining, we really wanted to go somewhere, but the trailer is winterized and covered so what is one to do.

After conversing via WILD TEXAS with CAMPERMOM
we decided to meet up at Cooper Lake SP (South) in early January and we would try a cabin.

Not knowing CAMPERMOM other than from this forum, and (and vice vesa) it turned into one of the nicest weekends we have had. Something about new friends who love their kids and the outdoors. Between the two of our families we have hit over two thirds of the state parks and that was our common ground. Heck DW even took notes on spots to go this summer down south of Austin (CAMPERMOM lives near San Antonio, we live near Dallas) so we compared north Texas parks to south Texas parks. (We both have been West also so that was fun too)

Anyway back to the review, first if you camp in a tralier you know evreything you ever need is in the trailer right? Well needless to say we over packed the car and still left things out.

The cabin we stayed in is a three room with full bath, and a real nice view of Cooper Lake. (Picture tour below) IF you want a get away this was really nice.

The park also has winterized screen shelters which look real nice (no kitchen or bathroom (you use a park restroom) and some screen shelters, (I do not know who would use those, you sleep on the concrete floor unless you bring an air matress or cot on your own.)

We took a short hike with CAMPERMOM and enjoyed the 80 degree weather in January (When we left Sunday it was 39 and more like winter)
That is peach cobbler in that last shot
