Looks like Gore will (in a good way) continue to challenge the administration on environmental issues as he's keenly opposed to "clean coal" technology, something BOTH McCain and Obama mentioned often as one of the paths away from our reliance on foreign oil. I like what Gore says though -- basically, show me that it can be done cleanly/responsibly and I'll gladly support it. But as of yet there's no large scale demonstration project of it in the USA that can show it can indeed be done cleanly, safely and responsibly here in the USA. We shall see. It's one facet of our national energy needs, and with the right folks working on it hopefully it can be a viable means of reducing the insane number of barrels we import daily from overseas (The United States, as of 2006, imports more than 65% of the oil it consumes.)
