A word of warning about the Texas coast...Hurricane Ike left remnants of his passing all along the coast. If you plan to go to the beach, call that park directly and ask straight out "how much debris is visible on the beach". I know South Padre and the Corpus area is seeing tons of debris. It isn't a pretty sight.

As far as mosquitoes and other insects go, they probably won't be too bad with the colder weather. Bring bug spray just in case though.
