For those who live in Austin, this is a real good place to leave the city behind.
The park is some 13 miles or so from downtown AUSTIN ! WOW
And it was not noisy or crowded. It was full but considering how dry it is, there were lots of folks out. (Austin is going through a drought see the pictures in the park)
Park facilities include some screened shelters with bunk beds (no mattresses); 84 campsites with water and electricity; A number of pull throughs, but most curve quick for long trailers, some close by walk-in water sites (200 yards or so) a few bike trails including a nice 3.5 mile paved trail. There are longer mountain bike/hike trails too.
Water was real low in October 2008 dry dry and dry. Severe no burn ban, even propane was discouraged unless you watched it.
Place was very quiet considering how close it is to the airport.
