Camping this time of year is tough, but not impossible. Find a site that offers good shade. Keep plenty of water (not soda or beer) handy. And go to a place with good swimming. You adjust to the heat after a while. But I would definitely limit my camping to the lower humidity parts of the state and avoid the coastal areas. Humidity will get you before the heat will.
