When we were at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park earlier this year we drove down through Port Arthur and Sabine Pass to check out the gulf. There were a couple of tents set up on the beach in the McFaddin National Wildlife Reserve. We talked to one group and they said it was free to camp, no permit needed. It would be great this time of year with the cool constant breeze coming off the water (keeps the mosquitoes away, too).
