One of the largest state parks you will find, some 26,000 acres amid landscapeing that is truely amazing. We were there for a hike and took in the park as a side trip. (did not stay at the park) But looked it over.Facilities include 80 water/electric sites, clean restrooms, and a playground. In addition there are 25 sites with water nearby and a few cabins. Biggest activity is hiking and biking but be in shape, as the canyon gets HOT !. There is a stable if you like riding. During the summer the run a dinner (optional but from the BIG TEXAN so it saves you the trip to Amarillo) and show called TEXAS. Starts late but has to because its not shaded.
No water feature to the park unless it rains, but watch out for WIND, bring good tent steaks. Also carry a propane stove as fire ban aleady in effect no charcoal fires !
Did the Lighthouse trail and went to the Museum in Canyon, hope you enjoy the show. Recomend this park for spring or fall to truley enjoy the hiking.
Highly recommend the museum during the summer to escape the heat.
