Thumbs up Sorry! Gotta' Brag About My Grandson!!!

Well, I had to take the time to brag about my 13 year old grandson (GS) and what a great job he did at handling a medical emergency. Seems he and his other grandpa were taking the old guys 30’ “tag-along” out to one of the local parks. Gramps got to driving real slow and weaving a bit. When GS asked him what was going on, gramps stated he wasn’t feeling well at all. GS got him to pull over and then had to order him to put the truck in “park” and turn the engine off. About that time, gramps’ eyes rolled back in his head and that was the end of him for a while.

GS got on the “cell” and called “911” to get the ball rolling. He then called his aunt and got her on the way. Paramedics showed up and while seeing to the medical needs of his grandpa, GS also saw to the security and transportation of the old boy’s truck and trailer!!! By the time his aunt arrived, grandpa had been transported to the hospital and the truck and trailer had also been moved there and secured. This was all arranged under the watchful eye of my GS with no one else around to direct his actions or decisions. Didn’t he do well?

Oh, and the cause of the emergency? The old boy had AGAIN failed to see that he ate correctly. Not a good idea for an insulin dependent diabetic. He went into insulin shock and the doctor said he was well on his way to a coma. This is not the first time that this has happened and I really wonder why my SIL lets my grandchildren ride with him. Yes, I know what I should say and have before. At some point, there is nothing more you can do but worry, even as a grandparent. None the less, I am very proud of my grandson and wanted to brag about him a bit. Thanks for letting me and,

Happy Camping!
