I had reservations (through reserveAmerica... grrr) to go tent camping with with my three kids in Louisiana at Lake Fausse Point State Park over the spring break. I went on Wednesday afternoon to check it out only to find it very, very disappointing. The "tent pad" that reserveAmerica had reserved for me is designed for an RV. I was hoping for a drive-up tent site. The tent pad itself was very wet. There was no way in hell (excuse my language) I was gonna put my tent on wet sand. Not only that, but the tent pad was surrounded by standing water. That alone was worth cancelling the reservations, but there was more. I wanted a site near the playground so that my kids could have some fun. The playground wasn't kept up. It hadn't been cleaned and there was vegetation growing INSIDE it. I was disappointed. Maybe if I had gotten a site closer to the lake, it may have been different, I don't know. But I was not too happy this time. I told my kids that we were not gonna camp here, but instead, we gonna try to go to a nearby Wildlife Management Area that is extremely primitive. They agreed. So, we all go home for the evening to make plans to check out the WMA for the next day, when the youngest, my son, comes up to me from playing outside and says, "my finger hurts." After spending two days at two different doctors, turns out he broke his finger. All camping plans ended up being cancelled.

Better luck next time.
